Introducing Michelle Peralta: Devoli People & Culture Lead
Published on 14/03/2024
Welcome to the second talent profile in our Devoli Big League series.
This time we’re drawing on our top-shelf people-person, Michelle Peralta. Read on to find out what drives her personally and in her role as People & Culture Lead at Devoli.
Hi Michelle! What do you do as People & Culture Lead at Devoli?
I work with the team to shape the everyday experience our people have at Devoli.
We want this to not only help drive industry-leading work but integrate well with people’s lives so that we all enjoy the ride, and so that the overall experience has a positive impact on us as humans.
What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
When the sun is out you’ll mostly find me at the beach or on a walk or hike with friends with coffee in hand. I love adventuring so I’ve been known to book a spontaneous trip overseas (usually to warmer places!) or at a glamping spot for the weekend.
But in a usual week, my adventures are to the gym for a workout or finding new hole-in-the-wall food spots.
What are you looking forward to most this year?
Seeing each person in our team do something they’re proud of – both personally and professionally – and the whole team working together to continue our evolution, and to celebrating hitting those big goals. It sounds cliché but these are the little magic moments for me.
And personally, I’m looking forward to a break I have planned with friends in Bali!
What do you enjoy most about working for Devoli?
I love that we’re not afraid to challenge the status quo and experiment, always looking for ways to get better and improve our customers’ businesses.
Devoli has given me space to grow and learn so I can improve personally too, which is invaluable.
At the same time, I love that we have a lot of fun along the way – which means a lot of food, laughs, and cuddles from the office dogs when you’re needing a pick-me-up.
What’s the most interesting development in recent times when it comes to your area of work?
Anyone who works in the People space will probably agree there’s been no shortage of interesting developments.
The key theme I’ve seen is that employee needs and expectations of workplaces are changing. More people are looking for an employer that operates in a way that aligns with their personal values and integrates with their life so they can be their best in all aspects that matter to them, while doing work that has impact.
This has led to more organisations needing to think about how they can transform and evolve so they attract and retain the best people – challenging, no doubt, but also very exciting! It means room to innovate and do things differently, and that’s something we embrace at Devoli.
